Dorothy Ivester

Dorothy Ioma Ivester, 86, of Mint Hill, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 3, 2011. She passed away with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Ivester was born March 27, 1925, in Habersham County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Ernest Guy Ivester, in 2010; her father, Roland Right Ivester; her mother, Alma Bell Dover; and her grandson, Michael Ivester. Dorothy was well known in the community for her crafts and sewing. She has made many people happy over the years with her creativity. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Arlington Baptist Church of Charlotte. Rev. Rick Whittier and Rev. Austin Ivester will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West of Charlotte. Dorothy is survived by her children, Wayne Ivester and his wife, Sandra, of Florida, Debra Cochran and her husband, Charles, of Florida, and Teresa Skidmore and her fiancé, Jeff Tucker, of Mint Hill; her sister, Mildred, of Greenville, S. C.; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild, four great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and four step-great-great-grandchildren. The children wish to thank all those who have given kind and loving care to their mother. We will truly miss Mom but we know she went to heaven to be with Daddy and the Lord.
