Biography Dorothy Mae Almond Martin, 85 years of age, of Locust, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Presbyterian Hospital Main-Harris Hospice Unit in Charlotte.
Dot was born June 5, 1930 in Stanly County to the late William John Almond and the late Ida Mae Brattain Almond. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lewis L. Martin, Jr.; sisters, Annie Tucker, Hazel Barbee, Mary Grace Laughter; and brothers, Lewis, Robert, Dewey, and Roy Lee Almond.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, August 24, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The graveside service, officiated by Rev. David Yoran, Rev. Patrick Womack, and Rev. Michael Cannon, will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday at Carolina Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 406 Renee Ford Road in Locust.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Martin and fiancée Cheryl Jackson of Charlotte; sister, Linda Helms and husband Pete; brother, Floyd Gene Almond and wife Brenda; numerous nieces and nephews; and Smut the cat.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Presbyterian Church, PO Box 369, Locust, NC 28097.
