Dorothy Burgess Thomas

Dorothy Burgess Thomas, 69, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024 at Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte.

Dorothy was born May 26, 1955 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late George Burgess and the late Bobbie Yow Burgess. 

She was also preceded in death by son, Gregory Alan Thomas; brother, James Burgess; and sister, Della Johnson.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 4:00 pm at Oakboro Church of God officiated by Rev. Torban Stroupe. 

Survivors include husband of 51 years, Roger Dale Thomas, Sr. of the home; son, Roger Dale Thomas, Jr.; grandchildren, C.J. Thomas (Cheyenne), Dustin Thomas, and Dillion Thomas; a great-granddaughter on the way, Paisley Thomas; sister, Peggy Eury; brother, Gene Burgess; and family friends, Hope Gray and Karen Hayes.

Dorothy was a member of Oakboro Church of God for the past 15 years. She loved children of all ages and also liked dogs and goats. She enjoyed hamburgers and spending time in the mountains. Dorothy just loved life!
