Douglas Archer, Sr.

Douglas Eugene Archer, Sr. 87, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018.

Mr. Archer was born April 21, 1931 to the late John Vernon and Cannie Bell Springer Archer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Stevens Archer; brothers, Ed and Don Archer; sisters, Sara Caffey, Colleen Penfield.

Douglas was a retired pharmaceutical representative with more than 30 years of service. He loved all outdoor activities especially, golfing and fishing. Doug will be remembered as a past scout master and a member of The Saints Sunday School Class, but mostly as a loving father, grandfather, and a friend to all.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at Fairview Memorial Park located at 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Andy Jung.

Survivors include: son, Douglas E. Archer, Jr. and wife Lou; daughter, Sandy Archer Smith and husband Daniel (Jack); grandchildren, Daniel Douglas Smith, Stacey Leanne Smith; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Leanne Carriker, Colton Douglas Carriker, Daniel Douglas Smith, Jr, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church - Albemarle, 202 North 2nd Street, Albemarle, NC. 28001.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Archer family.
