Douglas Huneycutt

Douglas Milford Huneycutt, 88, of Oakboro, NC passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 16, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Doug was born March 14, 1934 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Seymour Huneycutt and the late Pearl Goodman Huneycutt.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Yvonne Kennedy Huneycutt; granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Gentry; brothers, "June" Huneycutt, Jay Huneycutt, Tom Huneycutt and Dulin Huneycutt.

Survivors include daughter, Susan Griffin and husband Shelton; daughter, Linda Gentry; grandson, Alan Griffin and wife Michaela; granddaughters, Jessica Gentry and Morgan Gentry; great grandchildren, Zayden, Cali, Everett, EJ and Sarah.

Doug was a master machinist for over 60 years.  He loved helping people and he truly never met a stranger.  He was known at church as the "Candy Man" by all the adoring children.  Doug loved his family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 4694 NC Hwy. 205 in Oakboro, NC.  The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Kinney Wallace.  Mr. Huneycutt will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Mineral Springs Baptist Church.  Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Huneycutt family.
