Douglas Koontz

Douglas McLean Koontz, 88, of Concord, NC, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast of Concord. Mr. Koontz was born January 22, 1923, in Catawba County. He was preceded in death by his father, Perry Cletus Koontz; mother, Tressie Mathilda Hammer Koontz; and son, Gary Owen Koontz. He was a mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Charlotte, and a member of Grace Church of Harrisburg, NC. He was a loving husband and father who was loved by all and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 14, at Grace Church of Harrisburg, officiated by Pastor Doug Agnew. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his wife, Helen Bernice McClughen Koontz, of the home; daughter, Carolyn Kay McKnight and husband, Ed, of Charlotte; granddaughter, Jenny Compton and husband, Jamie; and three great-grandchildren, Kara, Lane, and Austin.
