Dr. George Edward Fore, 75 years of age, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Mr. Fore was born November 22, 1938 in Virginia to the late John and Lucille Fore. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord. Survivors include daughter, Deedee Gill of Concord, NC; former wife, Betty Upton of Hinton, WV; stepdaughters, Janet Triplett of Ballard, WV, Sunshine Harkey of Midland, and Nellie Humphries of Fairmont, WV; stepson, Jr. Gill of Hinton, WV; 97 year old aunt, Myrtle Fore of Alta Vista, VA; and some of his many cousins include Danny Gillian from WV, Glenna Grafton from Independence, MO, Cookie Fore from North Augusta, SC, Susan Fore Reaves from Graniteville,SC. George was a former resident of Altavista, VA where he was a member of Lane Memorial United Methodist Church. George suffered a severe stroke in December 2012. George relocated to North Carolina to reside with his daughter in April 2013. Dr. Fore was hospitalized on Dec 23, 2013 for fluid retention and was on the road to recovering when he decided he was ready to go to his new life and start his adventure. George knew he would play tennis and teach all those that need his expertise in heaven. He adored tennis and loved the game as much as the exercise. He loved to take pictures, loved to travel, and most importantly he loved his family. He would help anyone to the best of his ability. He loved all branches of the military with his favorite being Air Force. He attended every military association conference as he was able to. George was a social butterfly and never missed an opportunity to greet a stranger and shake their hand. He was a jokester and loved a good laugh. George retired from Washington Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Metro after 20 years of service as Engineer Inspector. He was previously employed at Boeing, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, West Virginia Governors Office. He was a member of Altavista Area YMCA, member of Association of the United States Army, Air Force Association, Navy League of the United States, Founding Member of The American Air Museum, The Army Historical Foundation, Inc, World War II Veterans Committee, Disabled American Veterans, Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Honor Society at WVU, WVU Alumni Association, American Institute of Physics, Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation, American Security Council, United States Navy Memorial, Virginia Sheriff's Institute, Metropolitan Police Boys & Girls Club D.C., National Rifle Association. He attended West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburgh and had degrees in Physics, Statistics, and Engineering. Received a Bachelor of Science from WVU in 1961 and went on to earn his Masters and PhD. Also attended University of California and Alexander Hamilton Institute in New York. He completed the Adult CPR at American Red Cross in 1992. Memorials may be made to ASPCA, P. O.
