Dykie Blair Austin

Dykie Blair Austin, 88, of Oakboro, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023, at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.

Dykie was born December 26, 1934, in North Carolina to the late Fred Austin and the late Thelma Pauline Baucom Austin. 
He was also preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Austin and sisters, Sue Austin and Cassilene Austin.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Jerry Greene. Burial will immediately follow at the Oakboro Cemetery at 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro.

Survivors include wife of 67 years, Louise Austin of the home; children, Mike (Vicky) Austin of Oakboro, NC and Tammy Austin (Dennis) Mills of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren, Justin (Denise) Austin, Kyle (Sierra) Johnson, Jennifer (Harrison) Foust, and Jordyn Austin; step-grandchildren, Denika (Brian) Coley, Jennifer (Jesus) Rodriguez, and Christina (Shawn) Eury; great-grandchildren, Timothy Austin, Cheyenne McKinney, Brayden McKinney, Matthew Veal, Kaidyn Johnson, Mason Veal, Rhyker Johnson, Maverick Foust; step-great-grandchildren, Tommy Austin, Jonathan Austin, Sophia Austin, Lilly Austin, Brayden Eury, Bryson Eury, Hunter (Allison) Coley, and Hailey Coley; step-great-great-granddaughter, Arya and siblings, Peggy Baucom of Marshville, NC, Shirley (Dwight) York of Midland, NC, Jerry Austin of Marshville, NC, Steve (Denise) Austin of Marshville, NC, and Eddie (Susie) Austin of Marshville, NC. and Kathy Austin.

Dykie loved walking - people would see him walking around everywhere! He also enjoyed bowling, sports, and field trails with beagle dogs. Dykie was always smiling.
