Earl Morris

December 27, 1935 — January 30, 2021

Charlotte

Earl "Kenneth" Morris was born on December 27, 1935 in Halifax County, Virginia to Jessie Thomas Morris and Gladys Esther (Ford) Morris. His early childhood was spent in Halifax County and Hampton Roads area of Virginia.  Following the end of World War Il, his parents moved to Richmond, Virginia.

He served active duty in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox (1957-58) and with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, Kentucky (1961-62), rising to the rank of Master Sargent.

Ken was employed by Philip Morris USA for forty-three years. He was most proud of being selected to assist as a mechanical engineer in the construction/design of the company's Richmond and Cabarrus manufacturing facilities; he took great pride in his contributions to the accomplishments of both facilities.

He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and, most of all, a devoted husband, father and "Pa-Pa"; one sure to be present for every sporting event and other activities for all his children and grand-children. He was sure to always remind his family that he was the biggest "kid" of all.

In addition to being predeceased by his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Betty Lorene Clay (Willie), and four brothers, Calvin, James, Cecil, Richard Wayne and Giles Thomas.

Ken leaves to cherish his memory his wife of sixty-five years, Sylvia (Richardson) Morris; daughter, Linda Meadows (Wayne); son Michael Morris (Cindy); four grandsons, Hunter Meadows, Brogan Meadows (Megan), Garet Kenneth Morris (Amber), and Aaron Morris (April); three great granddaughters, Nevaeh, McKenna and Isabella Anne Morris; sister-in-law Billiedale (Richardson) Vernon of Richmond, niece Leslie Vernon of Alexandria, Va; sister Patricia Ann Gladfelter.

The Morris family would like to thank Ken's caregivers Cheryl, Cherry, Barbara and Kayla as they did so much more than provide personal care, but love, compassion and support during this difficult time.
