Edd Thomas

The angels ushered Edd Grady Thomas, 87, into heaven on Monday, May 22, 2017.

Edd was born on June 1, 1929 to the late Henry Grady and Annie Mae Thomas in Union County, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Rachel Thomas; and his sisters, Margaret "Polly" T. Flowers and Marie T. Dennis; and a brother, Ernest Thomas.

Edd was a gentle soul of great strength and integrity, completely dedicated to his family. He retired after 42 years of employment with Charlotte Pipe Foundry. He was a long time active member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Friday, May 26, 2017 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 7608 Concord Hwy., Monroe, NC 28110. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dr. Ken Thomas, will follow at 12:00 Noon, Friday, May 26, 2017. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Vangela T. Clontz (Gary) and Shan T. Kershner; grandchildren, Kerri Monfalcone (Andy), Scott Clontz (Kathryn), Shari Sawyer (Scott), Amanda Helms (Allen), and Jeremy Cooper; several great-grandchildren, Joseph Clontz, Sam Clontz, Grady Sawyer, Olivia Sawyer, Claire Sawyer, Avett Monfalcone, Wren Monfalcone, Alyssa Helms, Grady Helms and Kendra Cooper; and one sister, Louise Mullis.
