Eddie “Van” Hinson, of Oakboro, went to meet his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family on January 25, 2015.
Born November 19, 1956, Van was a son of the late Ramelle Barbee Hinson and Floyd William Hinson. He was preceded in death by a brother Danny Hinson.
The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle.
The funeral service will be at 1pm on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro NC. Rev. Wayne Bennett will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be a 30 minute state.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Bronnie Carpenter Hinson; daughter Kristy Hinson Burris and husband Benjie; son Rodney Van Hinson and wife Emily; eight grandchildren Cody, Caleb, Callie Grace, and Brianna Burris, Ethan Hopper, Macy, Marshall, and Grayson Hinson; brother Terry Hinson Sr. and wife Fran; and a sister-in-law Brenda Hinson.
Van was a loving husband, daddy, paw-paw, friend, and neighbor. He loved spending time with his friends and family, spoiling his grandchildren, helping others, and spreading God’s word through music. He enjoyed performing with the Singing Americans, in the church choir, and most recently singing bass (since 2004) with Destiny Gospel Quartet. His hobbies also included riding his Harley, building and flying remote controlled airplanes, woodworking, restoring old cars and tractors, and remodeling his beach house that he had hoped to soon retire to.
He worked as the Service Manager at PalFleet Truck Equipment (formerly Fontaine) and was with the company for over 30 years. He loved his co-workers and considered them his family. Van had a big heart and a contagious smile. He was always there to help a person in need and considered countless people his “family.” He mentored many and enjoyed teaching others the many talents he possessed. His legacy will live on forever through his family, friends, and all who were privileged to know and love him and be loved by him. Our loss is Heaven’s gain and we find comfort in knowing we will see you again one day soon. Until then, “Go rest high on that mountain, because son your work on earth is done… Go to heaven a shoutin' love for the Father and the Son.”
The family would like to thank the many prayer warriors and special healthcare workers at Northeast Medical Center for their care and support during his unexpected illness. God Bless.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church c/o RA Hut Courtyard and Beautification Fund.
