E dith Shoe Auten, 97 years of age, of Concord, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Pruitt Health Care @ Town Center in Harrisburg, NC.
Edith was born October 14, 1918 in Cabarrus County to Mumford Lilliard Shoe and Hattie Geneva Shoe. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dewey, Robert, and James Shoe; her sisters, Bessie Kennedy, Daisy Foust, Myrtle Morton, Nannie Mae Auten, and Margaret Williams. Edith was the last surviving sibling in her family. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and a lifetime member of Westford United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Westford United Methodist Church, 273 Hwy. 49, Concord, NC, officiated by Rev. Jeffrey J. Rushing . Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
Survivors include her two daughters, Marla (Ray) Furr and Tana (Steve) Kiker both of Concord; her grandsons, Jason Furr of Concord and Matthew (Tania) Kiker of Harrisburg, Joshua (Samantha) Kiker of Tulsa, OK and Michael Kiker of Grapevine, TX; her great-granddaughters, Limari Laws and Dyani Laws of Harrisburg.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pruitt Health Care for the care shown to Edith during her stay over the past 15 months. A special thank you to Jason Furr, Ginger Cocherell and Debbie Ford for their special care of Edith at her home.
