Edith Brown

Edith Evelyn Almond Brown, 91 years of age, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Five Oaks Manor. Edith was born August 11, 1921 in Stanly County to the late Eli Ransom Almond and the late Annie Mae Knight Almond. She was also preceded in death by husband of 59 years, Martin Luther Brown who passed away in 1999; grandson, Todd Brown; and sister, Opal Whitley. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ronny Russell officiating the services. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. She is survived by her sons, Darrell Brown and wife Lucille of Boonville, Rev. Terry Brown and wife Judy of Durham; grandchildren, Jeanne Jenkins and husband Scott of Burlington, Joshua Brown and fiancée Sarah White of Durham, Billy Brown of Boonville; and great grandchildren, Emma and Trevor Jenkins of Burlington, Jasmine Woody and husband Jered of Honolulu, HI, and Alexandra Brown of Honolulu, HI. Edith was honored to work in the cafeteria for the Cabarrus County School System. She retired as cafeteria manager for Wolf Meadow Elementary School. For Edith, it was not just her employment but her calling. She loved community service and volunteering with St. Marin Lutheran Church. Edith also had a passion for gardening and loved her flowers.
