Edith Drake

Edith Hathcock Drake, 88, of Stanfield, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011, in Kindred Transitional Care of Monroe. Mrs. Drake was born March 30, 1923, in Cabarrus County to the late Robert Lee Hathcock and Ara Thomas Hathcock. Edith was a nurturing wife and mother as well as a nurse for Guardian Care in Monroe. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and writing poetry. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 p.m. Thursday, November 17, in the fellowship hall of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield. The funeral service will begin at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at her home. Survivors include her husband, Fred Ellison Drake of the home; her son, Rodger Fred Drake of Stanfield and her daughter, Sharon Alexander and her husband, Tommy, of Marietta, Georgia. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Drake family.
