Edith Furr

Edith Virginia Morton Furr, age 85 of Albemarle, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at CMC-NE. The family will receive friends at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 22182 Canton Road, Albemarle, NC, on Sunday, June 24 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 PM, officiated by Rev. JC Souther, in the church cemetery. Mrs. Furr was born on September 23, 1926, to the late James Luther Morton and the late Maggie Belle Hatley Morton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Riley “Clayton” Furr on May 20, 2005; one sister, Geneva Morton; and one brother, Paul Morton. She is survived by four daughters, Casinia Eudy and her husband, David, Tereda Horton and her husband, Belton, Gwendolyn Burris and her life partner, Richard, Tangela Furr, of the home, all of Albemarle; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Furr had been employed by Wiscassett Mills and E.J. Snyder Textiles and she retired from Stanly Knitting Mills. Memorials may be made to CARE, Inc, PO Box 1022, Albemarle, NC 28002.
