Edith Holt

Edith Malone Smith Holt, formerly of 397 Montgomery Shores, Mt. Gilead, passed away on August 25, 2011 at Forest Oaks Heath Care in Albemarle. Mrs. Holt was born in Stanly County on November 10, 1930 to the late Moses Ezekiel and Venie LouSelma Treece Smith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dwain Holt; sister, Lucille Calloway; and brother, Tally Smith. The family will receive friends Monday, August 29 from 1 – 2pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 2pm in the chapel, with Rev. Frank Thompson officiating. The burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. At other times, the family will be meeting at her son, Randy’s home, 26045 Mulberry Rd., Albemarle. She is survived by her son, Randy Holt and wife Carla of Albemarle; grandchildren, Stephanie Dillingham and husband Tony of Garner, Kenny Holt and wife Michela and Bryan Holt both of Albemarle; brothers, Dwight Smith, Elwood Smith, Ralph Smith all of Albemarle, Darrell Smith of Norwood; sisters, Marlene Morton of Millingport, Hazel Lowder of Pisgah Forest; and three great grandchildren.
