Edith Martin

Edith Hinson Martin, 83, of New Salem, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010, in Carolinas Medical Center – Union, Monroe, NC Mrs. Martin was born April 20, 1927, in Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erskine Frank Martin; father, George Preston Hinson; mother, Rosa Mullis Hinson; and infant daughter, Lisa Martin. Visitation will be Saturday, August 28, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, 6 – 8 p.m. At other times, the family will meet at her home. The funeral will be Sunday, 2:00, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Marshville, with a 30 minute state. Rev. John Miller and Rev. Rile Baucom will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include daughter, Becky Tarlton and husband, Rick, of New Salem; sons, Mitchell Martin and wife, Jill, and Shelley Martin and wife, Beverly, all of New Salem; sister, Colen Simpson of Lancaster, S.C.; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
