Edith Waddell

Edith Gray Dillman Waddell, 84, of Concord, NC passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC.

Edith was born July 20, 1933 in Marion, Virginia to the late Roy Clinton Dillman and Janie Belle Aker.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Roy Blaine Waddell, Jr.; and sister, Emilee Gillespie.

Survivors include a son, Michael R. (Debbie) Waddell of Newport News, VA; daughter, Patricia Lynn (Jerry) Clifton of Sarasota, FL; daughter, Carla Susan (Jim Thomas) Griffin of Salisbury, NC; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Winters and Joyce (Clarence) Moore; brother, Fred Dillman; and several nieces and nephews.

Edith's early years of marriage were spent raising her family in Smyth County, Virginia.  In 1960, the family moved to Newport News, Virginia, to pursue better job opportunities and made their residence there until 2006.  In retirement, she and Roy moved to Concord, NC.

Edith's life revolved around caring for her husband and family.  She also loved being a member of Roberta United Methodist Church, Concord.

The funeral service will begin  at 11:00 am, Friday, February 23, 2018 at Roberta United Methodist Church, 3925 Cochran Rd, Concord, officiated by Pastor Jim Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am.  Edith will be laid to rest beside Roy in the church cemetery.
