Edna Cline
November 13, 1927 — April 19, 2016
Edna Black Cline, 88, of Concord passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Carolina's Medical Center - Northeast.
Edna was the daughter of the late William W. Black and the late Blanche Blackwelder Black. She graduated from Harrisburg High School and King’s Business School. She worked as a secretary for the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service until her retirement in 1991. She served as a volunteer at the Cabarrus County Fair for many years in the farm and home building at the old fairgrounds and the registration table in Gold Hall. She was recognized in 2014 with the Clyde L Propst Jr. Memorial Award for her years of volunteer service. She was an active, lifelong member of Mount Hermon Lutheran Church where she served for many years as financial secretary and was the first woman elected to serve on the church council.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Cline; a sister Helen Black; brothers, Gene Black, Harold Black, and Hugh M. “Sandy” Black.
Edna is survived by her daughter Anita Cline and husband Jon Wallace of Concord; and her granddaughter Mary Blackwelder of Concord. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held at Mount Hermon Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Carrie Bishop will officiate.
