Mrs. Edna S. Lybrand, wife of Mr. Ray P. Lybrand of, 1243 Wendover Street, died at Carolina’s Medical Center, NorthEast. Mrs. Lybrand was 87 years of age having been born on July 28, 1923 in Warren County, GA. She was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Walter G. Stanley, Sr. Mrs. Lybrand was a graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College and Piedmont College, Demorest, GA. She had taught school in Tate and Camak, GA and in Lancaster, SC. Mrs. Lybrand had been very active in the Lutheran Church for much of her life. She and her husband had been involved in the beginning of three Lutheran churches in as many states. She had served as a primary and adult SS teacher and had served as president of Lutheran Church Women. At the time of her death, she was teacher of the Augburg Class at First Lutheran, where she was a member. Funeral services will be conducted at First Lutheran Church at 10:00 am on Friday, November 12, 2010 with the Rev. John Futterer officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. She is survived by her husband, Ray P. Lybrand; her son and daughter in law, Geray and Sandy Lybrand, of Maryville, TN; one granddaughter, Amy Lybrand, of Grapeland, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews.
