Edna Porter

Edna Lee Connell Porter, 98, of Jack Connell Road, Indian Trail, NC, passed away May 4, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Porter was born October 25, 1911, in Union County. Her parents, Jack Allen Connell and Allie Cegal Long Connell; husband, James W. Porter; son, Jerry D. Porter; and granddaughter Tracie Pressley, all preceded her in death. Edna Porter was the oldest member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Thursday, 7 – 9 p.m., Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral service will be Friday, 4:00 p.m., with a 30 minute state, at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Monroe, officiated by Dr. Kenneth Thomas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at her home. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Porter; daughters, Janice Lowder and Kaye Stewart, all of Indian Trail; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.
