Edsel Douglas

Edsel Calvin Douglas, age 82, of Stanfield, passed away on December 24, 2011 at Hospice House of Union County. Mr. Douglas was born on April 19 1929, to the late John Ross and the late Bertie Louise Pender Douglas. The funeral service will be at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield, NC at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dwight Mabry officiating. The burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland Tuesday December 27, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. At other times the family will meet at the home of his son, Mark Douglas’ home, 11570 Bridle Rd. Stanfield, NC 28163. He is survived by his sons, Jimmy Douglas of Chesterfield, SC, Ernest Douglas of Marshville, Lavon Douglas of Stanfield, Mark Douglas and wife Deborah of Stanfield; sister, Eursel Clemmons of Wilmington; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by his 1st wife Ernestine Clyburn Douglas, 2nd wife Hilda Douglas, and son Barry L. Douglas. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County at 700 W.
