Edward Furr

Edward Douglass Furr 76, of Carolina Beach formerly of Midland, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013. Mr. Furr was born October 26, 1937 in Stanly County to the late John Lee Furr and Dora Frances Furr Furr. The family will receive friends at Mill Grove United Methodist Church 13659 Hwy 601 South, Midland on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 1 until 2 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm at the church, officiated by Rev. Ron Nichols and Rev. Robert Sturge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include his daughters, Julie Pinion (Billy) of Stanfield, and Joan Tolson of Carolina Beach; son, James Furr of Wilmington; sisters, Ruth Brooks of Midland, Evelyn Hartsell also of Midland, and Hazel Coale of Carolina Beach; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. "Doug" is also survived by two stepsons, Ronnie Barbee of Lexington, and Lynn Barbee of Raleigh, their mother, Carol Bell Furr of Wilmington; and three step-grandchildren as well as many, many other special family members and friends.
