Edward Earl Hatley, 88, of 631 N. Sixth Street, Albemarle passed away, January 8, 2012, at the Lutheran Home of Albemarle. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012, in the Main Street UMC Parlor, Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Main Street UMC. Rev. Fred Carpenter will officiate and the burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park. Born August 29, 1923, in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Daniel Luther Hatley and the late Lillie Mae Lowder Hatley. He was employed by Murrell’s Pharmacy and later by Wiscassett Mills in Albemarle. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of Main Street UMC. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Rimer Hatley; son, Steve Hatley and wife Tish of Salisbury, NC and daughters Kathy Hatley of Albemarle and Jan Salesky and husband Paul of Sinking Spring, PA.; and grandchildren, Matt Hatley, Jodi Brown and husband Jason and Alex Salesky.
