He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Hausleben of Concord, NC, his daughter Catherine Aikey and husband Bob of Harrisburg, NC, his daughter Linda Baker and husband Bob of Mesa, Arizona, his grandchildren Wendy, Sean, Jack, and Chris, his sister Ada Smith and husband David of Paterson, NJ, and his sister-in-law, Joan Hausleben, of Hammonton, NJ. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews in NJ, NC, and CT.
Mr. Hausleben was born February 10, 1936, in Paterson, New Jersey to the late Paul and Ada Hausleben. He grew up in Paterson, N.J. as a dedicated Yankees Fan who could quote many a Yogi Berra catchphrase with a smile. Ed worked in the entertainment industry, creating theater automation services to theaters around the country.
Ed was a proud Marine Sgt. who served his country at the end of the Korean War. He especially loved the time he spent on the Hawaiian Islands. He was an Aircraft Mechanic in the Marines. He was intellectual and loved astronomy and history, spending hours reading both fiction and non-fiction books. He also had a fantastic sense of humor, often laughing at life in general. Ed was a loving, dedicated father and husband whose priority was always his family, whom he dearly loved. Ed was a man of great faith and belonged to and participated in the Episcopal church for many years. He also truly loved his spaghetti and meat sauce with a good chianti and enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, the Highway Men, some Pavarotti, and an occasional Elton John (to be nice.) He will be missed and remembered as a special man by his family and friends. Feel free to cheer Ed with your next pint of Guinness with the quote “Ed was one hell of a Marine!”
