Edward "Eddie" R. Sutton, 79, of Stanfield, NC, formerly of Williamstown, VT, went home to Jesus on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Eddie was born March 14, 1945 in Hartford, CT to the late Charles G Sutton, Sr. and the late Frances Aldrich Sutton. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles G. Sutton, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Sabra Sutton of Stanfield, NC; son, Mark Sutton, Sr.; daughter, Wendy Dente and husband Chris; grandchildren, Cole Sutton and his partner Grace, Mark Sutton, Jr., Larkspur (Jenna) Dente and partner Kaleb, Jared Dente and wife Gigi; great-grandsons, Bentley Sutton and Wyatt Sutton; sister, Rose Sweatland and husband Bob; sister, Sandy Blood and husband John; sister-in-law Janet Sutton; sister-in-law Coleen and husband Jim; sister-in-law Denise Turner and husband Jerry; brother-in-law William Craig and wife Megin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and loving extended family.
Ed served in the Army during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Ed was a hard worker, serving as a supervisor in Connecticut in the manufacturing industry, and spent most of his life in Vermont as a truck driver, which he loved as it allowed him to spend his days on the road listening to country music.
Ed was very mechanically inclined and loved to tinker on all things to do with engines both large and small. Sunday afternoons you would find him watching Nascar, rooting for his favorites of Dale Earnhardt, Sr., Tony Stewart and most recently, Kyle Busch. Motorcycle riding, both street bikes and dirt bikes, were another favorite passion of Ed’s, with Kawasaki being his first choice.
Ed was a gruff man and you knew you had won his favor if he teased you. Babies and children flocked to him as they could see through that toughness and they softened his heart. Ed would be the first one to help anyone in need, stranger or friend, and he would give you the shirt off his back or last dollar in his wallet if he thought it would be of service. Very simply put - he will be missed.
A private burial will take place at the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with military honors.
