Edwin Caudle

July 25, 1932 — January 1, 2017

Edwin Wayne Caudle, 84, of Midland, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Ed was born July 25, 1932 in Stanfield to the late Dallas Caudle and the late Essie Viola Long Caudle. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Evans L. Caudle.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tom Gibbs. The burial will be at Mill Grove United Methodist Cemetery, 13659 Hwy. 601 South, Midland. Military honors will be conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eva Lillian Howard Caudle of the home; sons, Mark Caudle of Midland, Matt Caudle of Midland; daughter, Eva Lassiter and husband, Cliff of High Point; sisters, Lorene Ledford of Midland, Sylvia Maness of Matthews; five grandchildren, Mark Caudle and wife Shanna of Mt. Pleasant, Caroline Caudle of Oakboro, Garrison Lassiter, Landon Lassiter, and Adam Lassiter, all of High Point; and six great-grandchildren.

Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved spending time with his family. He was a wonderful friend and neighbor, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Ed was a master gardener and shared his bounty with friends, family, and neighbors. He also enjoyed going fishing and then cooking what he caught. Ed was a man of few words, but had a razor wit.
