Edwin Lee Mauney, 80, of Harrisburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 17, 2017.
Edwin was born April 13, 1937 in Rutherford County, North Carolina to the late Clarence and Bessie (Hamrick) Mauney. He married Martha Bell Davis on December 22, 1957 in Shelby, North Carolina.
His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him to be the proud owner of two grocery stores, B-Mart in Charlotte and Mauney's Food in Wadesboro. He enjoyed dancing and traveling. He was known for his positive outlook and sense of humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Martha Bell Davis Mauney, his three children; sons, Mark (Jill) Mauney; Todd (Germena) Mauney; and daughter, Susan Gibson; his six grandchildren, Jessica (Wes), Chase, Matthew, Martyna (Brian), Cody and Tyler; and sister, Evelyn (Leo) Starling.
The memorial service will be on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, 12115 University City Blvd., Harrisburg, NC 28075 and officiated by Rev. Tim Newton.
