Edwin Clayton McLaughlin, 89, of Harrisburg, NC, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center under the care of Novant Health Hospice.
Ed was born July 21, 1932 in Moretown, VT, to the late Clayton Jordan McLaughlin and the late Edith Fannie White McLaughlin. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Louise McLaughlin and Pennie Ann McLaughlin, and his brother, Raymond McLaughlin.
Ed worked as a certified plumber/pipefitter/welder for many years for Commercial Piping in Colchester, VT. He also drove a truck for our good friends, John French and Sons in Underhill, VT. Ed enjoyed making things and fixing things. He lived in Dade City, FL, for 20 years. During those years, Ed remodeled the mobile home and built many miniatures. Over the last few years, he did many woodworking projects in his shop and painted garden statues. He enjoyed talking to his friends and family. Ed and Merlene had a camper and loved to travel with friends for 30 years.
No services are being held at this time. Ed will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Moretown, VT, at a later date.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Merlene Ada Farnsworth McLaughlin of Harrisburg, NC; daughter, Denise Hurst and husband, Jimmy, of Daytona, FL; son, Greg Davis of Gastonia, NC; son, Gary McLaughlin and wife, Yvonne, of Monroe, NC; daughter, Robin Guilmain and husband, Steven, of Harrisburg, NC; brother, Roger McLaughlin and wife, Edie, of Underhill, VT; brother, Floyd McLaughlin and wife, Vesta, of Jericho, VT; sister, Dorothy Blodgett of Underhill, VT; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he was very fond of.
The family would like to thank the staff of Novant Health Mint Hill and Novant Health Hospice for the care they provided to Ed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Humane Society. Ed would spoil his dogs.
