Elaine loved books. Her favorite books included Gone With the Wind, the Bible, and anything by Shakespeare. Before her children were born, she took a class where she learned to speak Middle English. She was brilliant and creative, but also silly and free spirited. She loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and fine jewelry. She didn’t care much for food in general, but loved Jimboy’s tacos (a Sacramento taco chain) and sweets of any kind. Elaine was also a devout Christian. If you needed prayer, she was the best Prayer Warrior anyone could ask for. She was very active at church, serving in various capacities over the years as a Sunday School director, an administrative assistant, and much more. She loved Jesus, and wanted everyone around her to share that passion.
Elaine was not an extravagant woman, and thus, her final wishes were for a simple and low-key funeral. A private (family only) graveside service will be held Tuesday at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens in Charlotte, NC. She hated getting cut flowers. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or the charity of your choice. She was a chronic volunteer, so please honor her by donating money or your time.
