Eldridge Gibson

Eldridge Rogerdell "Roger" Gibson, 81 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013. Roger was born March 27, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Herbert Gibson and the late Vertie Mae Thompson Gibson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Alice Brown Gibson in 2006. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Ken Burris and Rev. Mark Medlin, will be on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 2 pm at Fairview Baptist Church, 410 Ridge Street, Albemarle. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle with full military honors conducted by the Stanly County DAV. He is survived by daughters, Rita Abbott of Greensboro and Jenny (Bill) MacKay of Hurdle Mills; son, William "Buddy" Paschal, Jr. (Arlene) of Yadkinville; sisters, Helen Lockamy of Albemarle and Claire Gibson of Cary; four grandchildren; and close friend, Delores Pierson of Mt.
