Eleanor Waligora

Eleanor "Ellie" A. Waligora of Concord passed away on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at Atrium Health Hospital in Concord.

Eleanor was born on January 14th in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Mary and Joseph Resutek.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward S. Waligora, her brother Joseph "Sonny" Resutek and her granddaughter Stephanie Waligora.

Eleanor was fiercely proud of her Polish heritage and spoke often of the customs, foods and family history associated with her Polish ancestry, especially if it involved Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She also was an active member of the St. James the Greater Catholic Church since 1981 and enjoyed her role in the Women's Guild where she originated the "Angel Award".

The family will receive visitors on Friday November 12th from Noon to 1 pm at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Concord.  The funeral Mass will begin promptly at 1 pm for visitors wishing to stay and attend the Mass.  Burial will follow at the St. James the Greater Catholic Church Cemetery located at 2323 Gold Hill Rd., Concord, NC.

Eleanor dearly loved her family, and is survived by her son, David (Beverly) Waligora, son, Alan (Lori) Waligora, son, Mark (Susan) Waligora, daughter Sharon Waligora (Stephen Cutchin), and daughter, Nancy Waligora (Christophe Dagassan).  Grandchildren include Mark (Megan) Waligora, Anne (Nils) Dauburs, Elise (Zach) Baynum, Diana Waligora, Michael (Tiffany) Waligora, Elizabeth Waligora, Matthew (Catherine) Waligora, Mary Waligora (Richard Cranfill), Meredith Cutchin (Michael Therrien), Grant (MaryAnn) Cutchin, Tristan Dagassan and Marielle Dagassan, and nephews, Michael and Greg Resutek.  Eleanor was also very proud to have 7 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James the Greater Catholic Church Food Pantry or to a charity of your choice.
