Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Ritch Hogan, 76, of Charlotte/Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, after a difficult battle with metastatic breast cancer and dementia.
Libby was born March 7, 1948 in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Willis "Red" and Virginia Ritch. She was also preceded in death by her husband of almost 41 years, James "Mike" Hogan Sr. of Matthews.
Libby grew up in Charlotte and went to North Mecklenburg High School. She loved collecting turtles and teapots and enjoyed coloring. She will be remembered for her pecan pies, vibrant red Christmas decor, turtle and teapot collection. She adored and cherished all the time she was able to spend with her grandsons and would do absolutely anything for them. She was a wonderful mom, Maw Maw and sister, who was always there for her family, offering abundant support, wisdom, and love. She was loved by all who knew her and she will remain forever in our hearts.
Libby is survived by her sons, James "Michael" Hogan Jr. and wife, Chantelle, of China Grove and Ryan "Chris" Hogan and wife, Jennifer, of Mooresville; daughter, Lori Lowe of Concord; grandsons, Kodie Lowe and fiancée, Laura Green, of Charlotte, Grayson Lowe and fiancée, Julia Poteat, of Shelby, Andrew Hogan of Mooresville, and Joel Hogan of Mooresville; great-granddaughter, Eden Lowe of Shelby; sister, Norma Barnes and husband, Barney, of Stallings; brothers, Willis "Jay" Ritch Jr. and wife, Jeanette, of Indian Trail and Larry Ritch of Seneca, SC; and several nieces, nephews and extended family, whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Barkley and all the staff at Tucker Hospice House for loving and taking such good care of Libby.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:00 am at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg, officiated by Pastor Steven Chambers of Georgia. Burial will immediately follow at Crown Memorial Park, 9620 Rodney St., Pineville. Immediately following the burial, family and friends are invited to a potluck luncheon at her daughter's residence.
