Elizabeth Stocton

Martha Elizabeth Smith Stocton, 73, of Concord, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 5, 1937 in Stanly County to the late Moses Alexander Smith and the late Bessie Missouri Jones Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Horace and Ray Smith; sister, Nancy Smith; step son, Robbie Stocton; and former husband, Herman Wyatt. Elizabeth retired from the payroll department of Harris Teeter. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord from 12:30 until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 pmwith Rev. Jay D. Smith officiating. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. She is survived by her husband, Albert E. Stocton, of the home; step daughter, Cindy Cline and husband, Danny; step son, Jeff Stocton and wife, Gina, all of Concord; sisters, Arlene Burleson, of Albemarle and Ruby Pickler and husband, Gilbert, of Albemarle; nephews, Mickey, Danny, Allen, and Lanny; nieces, Tammy, Crystal, and Anita, whom she dearly loved. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. The family wishes to thank Hospice for the care that was given to Elizabeth during her illness.
