Ella Smith

Ella Ruth Coley Smith, 80 years of age, of Concord, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Mrs. Smith was born December 24, 1936 to the late Clegg William Coley and Flonnie Greene Coley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Harold "Lewis" Rushing, Jr. and granddaughter, Crystal Rushing Simpson.

Ella had previously worked as a seamstress at Concord Hosiery Mill. She retired from the Concord WalMart where she worked in the fitting room and answered the phone for many years. She was also a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Ella was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, coworker and christian.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Buck Canup and Rev. Ed Hall. Burial will follow in the West Concord Cemetery at 331 Union Cemetery Rd SW, Concord.

Survivors include: husband, Henry Mack "H.M." Smith, Jr.; daughter, Karen Rushing Collins; sons, Richard Rushing and Kenneth Rushing; grandchildren, Amanda McDonald Cunningham and Jason Burris; great-grandchildren, Tyler Sechlar, Luke Burris and Clara Burris; and brothers, Robert E. "Bobby" Coley of PA and William "Bill" Coley of Harrisburg, NC.
