Elladean Blackwelder

EllaDean Simpson Blackwelder, 87, of Concord, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at Five Oaks Manor, Concord.
EllaDean was born May 1, 1930 to the late E.H. and Velma Simpson. She was also preceded in death by husband, John Henry Blackwelder; and sister, Betty Lee Simpson.
EllaDean was widowed young due to John's tragic silo death in 1960, lovingly raising 3 young children. EllaDean enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits of her labor. She also loved quilting and sharing her childhood memories of picking cotton.
Survivors include beloved daughters, Rebecca (Randy) Sherrill and Sheila Smith; son, John (Susan) Blackwelder; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lottie York and Rachel (John) Parker; brother, Mitchell (Charlotte) Simpson; nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Five Oaks Manor, especially Crystal Williams, LPN.
Services will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Drive NE, Concord. The family will receive friends from 1:00- 1:45 pm. A service to celebrate EllaDean's life will follow at 2:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark J. Ericson. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, 100 St. John's Church Road, Concord.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
