Ellen Margaret (Kwasnowski) Collins, of Concord, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2014 after a courageous battle against breast cancer. Ellen was born on November 28th, 1949 to the late Dr. Henry and Rosemary Kwasnowski of Kingston, NY.
Ellen’s greatest joy was her family. They were the light of her life and she devoted herself to them unconditionally. She leaves the following family members to live out her legacy: her loving husband, Cornelius “Corky” Collins, Jr. of Concord;Children: Sarah Riska (Josh), Karen Steimer (Ken), Corky Collins (Lisa), and Kelly Payne (Richard). Ellen was adored by seven grandchildren: Holden Grace, Chelsea, Dexter, Kasey, Landon, Daniel, Natalie and one great grandchild Max. Seven siblings, nine nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins and friends were also blessed by Ellen’s love.
Ellen was a devoted and beloved math teacher who worked in the public school system for over 41 years. She touched the lives of many students, teachers, and faculty with her compassion and she was an inspiration to all. Her laughter was infectious, her smiles warm, and her generosity unbounded.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Sunday, September 28th, at HartsellFuneral Home of Concord. The celebration of her life will be held Monday at 11am at St. James The Greater Catholic Church, 139 Manor Dr., in Concord. Burial will follow at St. James The Greater Catholic Church Cemetery at 2323 Gold Hill Rd., Concord.
