Elmer Franklin Stamper Sr., 95, of Oakboro, peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, November 22, 2021.
Elmer was born May 5, 1926 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Thomas & Rena McIntyre Stamper.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hill Stamper; brother, John Stamper; and sisters, Inez Cauble, Sadie Blake and Madie Hamby.
The graveside service will be on Friday, November 26th at 3:30 PM at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Richfield officiated by Father Fitzgibbons.
Elmer was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USNS Narragansett. He was honorably discharged in 1947 and began a career in textiles, retiring from Wiscasset Mills. After retirement, he worked at the First Presbyterian Preschool for many years.
He is survived by his children, Phyllis Levesque of Oakboro, Gilda Vincent (Edward) of Salisbury, Frank Stamper (Amy) of Denver and Steve Stamper (Willa) of High Point. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
