Elsie Burris

Elsie Louvine Poplin Burris, age 80 of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Reverend Joe Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Dunn’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times the family will meet at her home, 354 N. Depot Street, Albemarle, NC. Ms. Burris was born in Stanly County on June 2, 1931, to the late Rufus John “RJ” Poplin and the late Eliza Phronia Whitley Poplin. She is survived by son, Gary Burris and wife Sandy of Albemarle; two daughters, Barbara Jean Simmons and husband Robert of Kannapolis, and Kathy Lanier and husband Ray of Albemarle; brother, Ray Poplin of Marshville; two sisters, Bobbie Smith and Hazeline Herrin of Albemarle; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
