Elsie Mason

Elsie Rae Whitley Mason, 79 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.

Elsie was born May 17, 1934 in Montgomery County to the late Lonnie Lee Whitley and the late Annie Mae Simpson Whitley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Mason, Sr.; daughters, Marilyn Mason Webb and Judy Mason; brothers, Red and James Paul Whitley; and sisters, Pauline Hester, Opal Grey, and Mary Hahn.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday at 1:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. The burial will follow at Aquadale Baptist Church Cemetery, 32871 Church Rd. in Norwood. At other times the family will be gathering at her grandson, Jonathan Paige's home, 33923 Shaver Rd. in Albemarle.

She is survived by her son, Herman Mason Jr. of Aquadale; grandsons, Jonathan Paige and Paul Mason, both of Albemarle; great grandchildren, Parker, Izzie, and Gabriel Mason, all of Albemarle; and sister, Helen Coble of Wilmington.
