Elsie Aldridge Starnes, 94, of Concord, passed away in the comfort of her own home with family by her side on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
Elsie was born March 23, 1926 in Concord to the late Charles David Aldridge and the late Daisy Elizabeth Garver Aldridge. She was also preceded in death by beloved husband, Charles Edward Starnes, and seven siblings, Nora Canup, Charles Aldridge Jr., Coy Aldridge, Lula Cline, Sam Aldridge, Luther Aldridge, and Lena Wood.
Elsie still enjoyed meeting monthly with coworkers from Hugh-Grey Mill at Troutman's. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Elsie retired at age 72, after styling hair at her own beauty shop for more than 44 years. She was a founding and current member of New Hope Worship Center in Concord. She loved singing at church. Elsie enjoyed walking on the beach and collecting sticks from her yard. She loved reading and sewing. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family, especially preparing Sunday dinner. She adored her great-grandbabies. Elsie will be forever loved and dearly missed.
Survivors include daughter, Charlene Hatley and husband, Mark, of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Brandy Johnson and husband, Joe, of Concord, Megan Trivette and husband, Lee, of Mt. Pleasant, Kaci Wagner of Mt. Pleasant, and Seth Hatley of Concord; three great-grandchildren, Logan Johnson, Charlie and Elouise Trivette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elsie was laid to rest during a private committal service at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Dale Jenkins.
