Emily Carter, age 40, of New London, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at CMC-Main, with her loving family by her side. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 28 at 4:00 PM at Palestine United Methodist Church, 36414 Palestine Road, Albemarle, officiated by Rev. David Nolan and assisted by Rev. Nick Rochester. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at the home. Emily was born in Stanly County, on April 13, 1971, to Ronnie Lee Carter and Nancy Elizabeth Herlocker Carter of New London. In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Kristen Cooper and her husband Ricky; one brother, Brian Carter and his wife Audrey, all of New London; nieces and nephews, K.J., Cameron, and Kyla Cooper, Ian and Eli Carter; cousins, Amy Herlocker, Grant and Tressa Herlocker, Shannon Carter, Shane Carter, Hannah and Brooke Herlocker, and Kelly Furr; special aunts and uncles, Allen Herlocker, Tommy Herlocker, Mike and Susan Carter; paternal grandmother, Claudine Carter; special friends, Bobbi and Roger Craig and her goddaughter, Rainy Craig; and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by, maternal grandparents, Jack and Ruby Herlocker; paternal grandfather, H.O. Carter. Emily was a “party planner†and served as president of the UMW of Palestine United Methodist Church. She was an awesome “Aunt Meâ€, a beloved, amazing and selfless sister, aunt, daughter and friend. A blessing from God, she was kind to all, and gave her love unconditionally. She was a joy to all and will be greatly missed.
