Emily Almond Furr, 84 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Trinity Place in Albemarle.
Mrs. Furr was born April 1, 1930 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late John Almond and Alice Ada Ann Almond. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James C. Furr, Sr. and son-in-law, Steve Hyatt.
Emily loved working in her yard and gardening. She was known for her genuine love of others and lending a helping hand. She was a member of Oakboro United Methodist Church, and was well known for her homemade coconut custard and chocolate pies.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM on Wednesday February 18, 2015 at Oakboro United Methodist Church in Oakboro. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church officiated by Rev. Gene Moore and Rev. Leslee Wray. Burial will follow at the Oakboro Cemetery at 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro.
Survivors include son, James C. Furr, Jr. of Oakboro; daughter, Melody Furr Hyatt of Peachland; grandsons, Ryan (Mandy) Hyatt of Peachland and Luke (Anne) Hyatt of Wadesboro; six great grandsons, Cooper, Luke, Dock, Tucker, Brady and Jax Hyatt; daughter-in-law, Diane Furr; brother, Wilbert Almond of Locust; sister, Pauline Tucker of Trinity Place; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
