Emma Morton

Emma Harkey Morton, 89, of Stanly County, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Carebridge Assisted Living in Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Friday, November 30, 2012, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jacqueline Tookey, will be at Salem United Methodist Church, Albemarle on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Mrs. Morton was born on August 5, 1923, to the late Jonah Harkey and the late Liller Harkey. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert Fetzer Morton; brothers, Ray Harkey, Hugh Harkey, Hal Harkey, Grady Harkey, Floyd Harkey, Jess Harkey, Ruby James Harkey, Claud Harkey. She is survived by a son, Steve Morton and wife Debbie of Monroe; two daughters, Dianne Chamley of Albemarle and Lynn Gibson and husband Kiner of Albemarle; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
