Emma Thomas

Emma M. Thomas, 87, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021 Elm Croft Nursing Home in Harrisburg, NC, with her family by her side.

She was born on April 24, 1934 to Walter and Bessie (Griffin) Meggs in Union County NC. Emma worked as an Office Manager for Academy Productions, Inc. a photography business, where she thoroughly enjoyed her work and continuing  till 75 years old.

She was a member of Westford UMC where she was very active and love spending time with her friends.

Emma is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Elwood, daughter, Jan Russell; granddaughter, April Hamilton and her husband Kevin Hamilton, her favorite; great-grandson, Logan Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by father, Walter Clay Meggs, mother, Bessie Mae Meggs, her sister Ruth Hudson and her brother Carl Meggs.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 14, 2021, 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home, Harrisburg, NC. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, 2:00 pm at the Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg, Harrisburg, NC, with Jeffrey Rushing, officiating. Private family burial will take place in the Sharon Memorial Park.
