Emmett Cletus Sapp, Jr. 94, of Harrisburg, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 6 until 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 11 am following a 30 minute state, with Rev. Tim Bostic and Dr. Donald McManus officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Sapp was born on May 23, 1918 in Cabarrus County, to the late Emmett Cletus Sapp, Sr. and Ada Mollie Allman Sapp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Gourley Sapp who passed away in 2000, brothers, Frank, John, Homer, and C. Hoover Sapp, and sisters, Stella Goodman, Gurthie Sapp, Pearl Sapp, and Mary Lois Petrea. Mr. Sapp was a veteran of WWII, and a member of The Civil Conservatory Corps prior to WWII, a member of Harrisburg VFD, and the last living charter member of Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his brother, Mark L. Sapp, Sr. of Concord; nephew, Michael Sapp, Jr. and wife Janie of Rockwell; godson, Timothy Jenkins; special friend, Louise Hinson.
