Ernest Griffin

Ernest David Griffin, 85, of Stanfield, NC, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011, in CMC-Main, Charlotte, NC. Mr. Griffin was born March 2, 1925 in Stanly County, NC. He was retired from Cannon Mills and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Phylas Griffin and mother, Verdie Ann Huneycutt Griffin and brother, Charlie Buford Griffin. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 28, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The service will be held at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield on Tuesday, March 1 at 4 PM with Rev. Dwight Mabry officiating. There will be a 30 minute state beginning at 3:30 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be meeting at his home. Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Jamie Elsie Hatley Griffin; son, David Griffin (Terry) of Oakboro; daughters, Rebecca Goss (Terry) of Stanfield, and Lydia Strickland (Toby) of Stanfield; brother, Kermit Griffin of Stanfield; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
