Ernest Clay Herrin, Jr., 86 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 at his home.
Ernest was born May 22, 1928 in Stanly County to the late Ernest Clay Herrin, Sr. and the late Esther Lee Lowder Herrin. He was also preceded in death by sister, Irene Morton.
The funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Canton Baptist Church, 24615 Endy Rd., Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Mark Mabry and Rev. Delane Burris. He will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Doris Ann Coble Herrin of the home; son, Tony Herrin of Albemarle; daughter, Debbie Thomas and husband Alan of Albemarle; granddaughter, Lori Huneycutt and husband Trent of Albemarle; great-grandchildren, Drew and Kinsley Huneycutt; brother, Melvin Herrin of Charlotte; and sister, Betty Burris of Albemarle.
Ernest honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful member of Canton Baptist Church.
