Ernest Guy Ivester, 87, of Mint Hill, NC, went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 20, 2010. He passed away at home with his loving family by his side. Mr. Ivester was born February 5, 1923, in Stephens County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, George Moses Ivester, his mother, Mary Susan Fry Ivester, and his grandson, Michael Ivester. Ernest was a POW in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Blythe Brothers after 36 years and was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. The visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday December 22, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral service will be 11:00, Thursday, at Arlington Baptist Church, with a 30 minute state. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy Ivester; children, Wayne Ivester and wife, Sandra, of Florida, Debra Cochran and husband, Charles, of Florida, and Teresa Skidmore and fiancée, Jeff Tucker, of Mint Hill; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild, four great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren. The children wish to thank all those who have given kind and loving care to their father. We will truly miss Daddy but we know he went to heaven to be with the Lord and his grandson.
