Ernestine Helms

Ernestine Helms, 78, of Midland, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

She was born March 7, 1942 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Gazz Dewitt Simpson and the late Margie Louise Simpson.

Ernestine’s ex-husband William Harold Helms preceded her in death.

She is a lifelong resident of Midland, NC.  She graduated from Bethel School in 1959.  Family and friends were Ernestine’s passion and delight.  She loved to cook, enjoyed gardening, and loved being outside.  She loved to laugh and tell any joke.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for and continued to pray for her.

The graveside service will be on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 12:30 pm at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 7608 Concord Highway in Monroe.  The service will be officiated by Josh Herrin.

Survivors include son, Jeff Helms (Tammy) of Concord, NC; daughter, Amy Teague (John) of Indian Trail, NC; grandson, JP Teague, IV (Sarah) of Matthews, NC; granddaughter, Karley Helms of Jersey City, NJ; grandson, Will Teague, II of Indian Trail, NC; and brother Richard Simpson (Faye Gaskey) of Midland, NC.  She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
